Iria Beach

JUNIOR Hotel is located in Argolida, Peloponnese, Greece nearby Nafplion City at the Beach of Iria, 20 minutes from the center of Nafplio and 20 minutes from the Famous Ancient Theater of Epidaurus.

The Beach of Iria is about 20 minutes far from the centre of Nafplio with which it communicates by 2 roads of about equal lenght (about 20klm each), one by internal land. large with almost no turns, proper for big cars and the other by the very picturesque seaside. From Athens is about 2 hours away and about 2 ½ hours from either Athens (El. Venizelos) or Patra (Araxos) or Kalamata airports.

The Beach of Iria is located, at the centre of an area with a lot of renown archaeological, historical, ecclesiastical and cultural sites, like beautiful Nafplio, first capital of Greece, with Palamidi and Akronafplia Venetian castles and its Old Town, Epidaurus with its renown ancient open theatre, Mycenae, Ancient Tiryns, Ancient Corinth, Agnounta and Avgo Monasteries, neighboring Spetses, Hydra and Poros islands and Koilada, Ermioni, Porto Heli and Poros harbors and Piraeus port at about 2 hours distance.

The Beach of Iria itself is quickly developing to a first choice tourism and vacations destination of Argolida and of entire East Peloponnese, due among others to the following:

The climate at Beach of Iria is unique !

The northeastern wind which prevails in Aegean Sea most of the year and almost totally during the summer blows parallel to mountain Didymo until it reaches its cap. There it is freed and making a 180º turn, enters the Argolic Gulf as a southwestern breeze which is locally called "boucadoura" and which, like being regulated automatically, begins to blow at about 12.00' every noon, reaches its peak at about 17.00' in the afternoon and stops at about 21.00' in the evening.

The sea remains calm during the night and the next morning until about 12.00' noon, when the fresh "boucadoura" cycle begins gradually again. This "boucadoura" has also made the Argolic gulf renown as ideal for sailing and windsurfing.

The sea at the Beach of Iria has a very pleasant temperature and it is shallow, permitting to walk standing up to about 70 meters from the sandy beach on a totally grain – sand bottom, with neither stones nor pebbles.

Swimming at the sea of Iria is easy and safe for children and elderly people, while the prevailing mild north eastern wind that blows from the land, keeps the sea surface calm most of the day breaking only during "boucadoura" period.
